X Games Aspen 2027 by private jet:January 29–31 at Buttermilk.
X Games Aspen 2027 runs Friday, January 29 to Sunday, January 31, 2027, at Buttermilk, per the official X Games site, for the 26th consecutive year. For a private flight, the constraint is Aspen’s airport: a mountain field with a published throughput of 28 operations an hour in ideal conditions and an 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. curfew. Plan the aircraft, the arrival window and a fallback airport together.

When and where is X Games Aspen 2027?
The official X Games event page lists X Games Aspen 2027 for January 29–31, 2027, at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, and Aspen Snowmass confirms the same dates and venue, adding that 2027 is the event’s 26th consecutive year there. The dates fall Friday to Sunday. Buttermilk itself opens for the season on December 12, 2026, per Aspen Snowmass.
The program, schedule and ticketing are published by X Games and change as the event nears, so check the official page for session times before you fix an arrival. For a flight, the useful unit is the weekend: an arrival on Thursday or Friday, and a return on Sunday evening or Monday. Monday, February 1, 2027 is also a public holiday in Mexico (the first Monday of February under the Federal Labor Law), which matters for families flying in from there.
Why do event weekends put pressure on Aspen’s airport?
Because the airport has a fixed daily window and a finite hourly rate. Aspen/Pitkin County’s 2025 operational report cites an FAA throughput average of 28 operations per hour under ideal conditions. The airport is closed from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. local, so the open window is 16 hours; 16 × 28 gives a theoretical ceiling of 448 operations a day, and only in ideal conditions. In winter, conditions are not always ideal.
The busiest days the airport has published come within about 150 operations of that ceiling: 296 on Sunday, February 22, 2026, and 294 on Saturday, January 3, 2026, per its monthly reports. The airport’s data do not isolate X Games weekend, so we won’t put a number on it. What they show is that a busy winter weekend at ASE runs on a shared runway, a shared ramp and a fixed curfew, with commercial flights on the same schedule. Arrivals are restricted after 11:00 p.m. and jet departures after 10:30 p.m. under the airport’s noise rules, so a late slip can push a departure to the next morning.
We found no holiday slot program or prior-permission scheme for 2026–27 on the airport’s site, and the FAA’s special traffic management page listed no events when we checked on September 22, 2026. If the FAA issues one for Colorado, its notice sets the reservation deadlines; we check for one when we quote.
Which aircraft can land in Aspen for X Games?
ASE prohibits aircraft with a wingspan over 95 feet or a landing weight over 100,000 pounds (dual wheel), and restricts noisier aircraft at night; the full rules are on our Aspen page and the runway, approach and winter detail in our Aspen airport guide. In practice the question is not only whether an aircraft is allowed, but whether it can use the 8,006-foot runway at 7,838 feet with your passengers, ski bags and fuel on a cold January day. That is an operator calculation, and we get it in writing before we quote.
Aspen also does not appear on CBP’s list of airports serving general aviation. If your group is arriving from outside the United States, the customs stop is part of the plan from the start, not a detail for later.
How far ahead should you plan an X Games flight?
No official source publishes a booking deadline for Aspen, and we won’t invent one. What we can give you is an order of decisions, because each one narrows the next:
- Now: confirm dates, passenger count and ski equipment. These set the aircraft category.
- Next: match the aircraft to Aspen’s limits and to the runway performance on the day; see our guide to private jet types.
- Then: choose an arrival window well inside tower hours (7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.), with margin before the 11:00 p.m. curfew.
- Before confirming: agree the fallback airport, Eagle or Rifle, and the ground transfer from it.
- Return: plan a jet departure well before 10:30 p.m., or a Monday morning departure.
The whole winter calendar, including MLK Day (January 18, 2027) and the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix at Buttermilk and Snowmass on February 27–28, 2027, is in our 2026–27 season dates article.
Eagle or Rifle: the fallback airports
Eagle County Regional (EGE) has a 9,000-foot runway at 6,547 feet and customs on the field; Aspen Snowmass puts the drive at about an hour and a half. Rifle Garfield County (RIL) has a 7,000-foot runway at 5,537 feet (FAA); Aspen Snowmass places it 61 miles from Aspen. Both are further by road than they look on a map, so the choice depends on where you are staying and on the weather on the day. Eagle is covered in our Eagle airport guide.
We set the fallback before the flight is confirmed, not on the morning of arrival. Vision Air Charter is a charter broker based in Aspen, led by Gabbi Sandino: we book the whole aircraft for your group, never individual seats, and every flight is operated by an FAA Part 135 certificated carrier that Vision Air selects from its preferred operators.
Data verified September 22–23, 2026 against xgames.com, Aspen Snowmass, Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (curfew, aircraft limitations, 2025 and 2026 operational reports, 2027 closure), FAA airport and runway data, CBP’s general-aviation airport list and the FAA special traffic management page.
Vision Air Charter is an air charter broker — not an airline or a direct air carrier. All flights are operated by carriers certified under FAA Part 135.

Friday, January 29 to Sunday, January 31, 2027, at Buttermilk in Aspen, per the official X Games event page and Aspen Snowmass. It is the event’s 26th consecutive year in Aspen.
What airport do you fly into for X Games Aspen?
Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) is the closest. If the aircraft, the timing or the weather rule it out, the alternatives are Eagle County Regional (EGE), about an hour and a half by road per Aspen Snowmass, and Rifle Garfield County (RIL), 61 miles from Aspen.
Is Aspen airport busy during X Games?
The airport does not publish X Games weekend figures. Its published capacity is an average of 28 operations per hour under ideal conditions, it is closed from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and its busiest published winter days reached 294 to 296 operations, which is why event weekends are planned with a fallback airport.
Is the Aspen airport closed during X Games 2027?
No. The 2027 closure of Aspen/Pitkin County Airport starts on April 4, 2027 at 11:00 p.m., more than two months after X Games. The airport operates normally in January, with its usual curfew.
How early should I book a private jet for X Games Aspen?
No official source sets a booking deadline. Settle the dates, passenger count and aircraft first, then the arrival window and the fallback airport; the earlier they are fixed, the less is left to the last week.
