Aspen’s airport closes in 2027.Your trip doesn’t change.

Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is closed from April 4 to November 19, 2027 while its runway is rebuilt. We land you at Eagle or Rifle, and a car is waiting at the aircraft to take you on to Aspen.

Key facts

Aspen (ASE) is closed Sunday, April 4, 2027, 11:00 p.m. to Friday, November 19, 2027, 7:00 p.m., per Pitkin County.
We fly you into Eagle (EGE) or Rifle (RIL), whichever suits your day.
Your car is booked with the flight and waits at the aircraft.
The whole aircraft is yours, as always. Nothing about how you book changes.

We have it covered

Knowing where and when to land is our job. For each trip we weigh the airport against your arrival time, your aircraft and where you are staying in the valley, then give you one recommendation and the reason for it.

The ground leg is part of the same plan. The car is booked when the flight is, it meets you on the ramp, and your bags go straight from the aircraft to the car.

Plan summer 2027 early

The closure covers all of summer 2027, including the FOOD & WINE Classic and the Aspen Ideas festivals. Everyone flying private into the valley will be using the same two airports, so the earlier we have your dates, the more choice of aircraft and timing you keep.

Before April 4, 2027, including the whole 2026–27 ski season, flights into Aspen run as usual.

Dates verified against Pitkin County’s announcement of May 28, 2026 and aspenairport.com, checked 23 September 2026.

Vision Air Charter acts as an air charter broker and is not a direct air carrier. Every flight is operated by an FAA-certificated Part 135 air carrier.

Frequently asked questions.

When is Aspen’s airport closed in 2027?

From Sunday, April 4, 2027 at 11:00 p.m. to Friday, November 19, 2027 at 7:00 p.m., while the runway is rebuilt. No commercial or private flights use Aspen during that time.

Where will my flight land instead?

At Eagle (EGE) or Rifle (RIL). We choose between them for your date, your aircraft and where you are staying, and tell you why.

How do I get from the airport to Aspen?

By car. We book it with the flight, so it is waiting at the aircraft when you land and takes you straight on to Aspen.

Does anything change for the 2026–27 ski season?

No. Aspen stays open all winter and closes after April 4, 2027, so ski trips before then fly into Aspen as usual.
